Beya Makekau, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager

TS Talent Solutions would like to extend our congratulations to Beya Makekau on her new role as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Manager with the City of San Luis Obispo.

Beya will serve as San Luis Obispo’s very first DEI Manager. Previously working with the San Luis Obispo DEI Task Force, Beya took part in developing recommendations for the City to adopt in order to advance inclusion. In November 2021, The City began its search to hire a DEI Manager and chose to offer the position to Beya.

Before her career began in San Luis Obispo, Beya served as Cal Poly’s Director of Student Diversity and Belonging. Beya has obtained her B.A. in Ethnic Studies from the University of Oklahoma and a M.A. in Ethnic Studies from San Francisco State University. She is currently completing her Doctorate of Education from Cal State University, Fresno.
