When Tripepi Smith VIP the City of La Cañada Flintridge (LCF) began recruiting for a public works inspector and a city engineer, the City called on Team Tripepi Smith to cast news of the openings far and wide.
Tripepi Smith President Ryder Todd Smith and Senior Business Analyst Cameron Grimm steered the outreach plan, which included a mailer brochure, a flyer and LinkedIn ads. Senior Graphic Designer Kjerstin Wingert collaborated with Cameron on content and design while Business Analyst Karen Villaseñor coordinated LinkedIn placements.
“The team in La Cañada Flintridge knew that hiring for a technical position like a city engineer would be difficult,” Carl Alameda, assistant city manager at LCF, said. “To ensure our opportunity stood out, we asked Tripepi Smith to make the case for joining our team with solid language and great visuals for our recruiting brochure. The resulting materials were excellent and valuable throughout the recruitment process.”
LCF found success. “The search yielded two strong candidates from a large applicant pool that simply wouldn’t have been achievable without the recruiting support of Tripepi Smith,” Carl noted.
LCF has been a client of Tripepi Smith for 6 years. The City first turned to Tripepi Smith in 2014 to conduct a communications assessment complete with recommendations for improving City communications. The City went on to engage Tripepi Smith for help taking on the recommendations. Since, Team Tripepi Smith has maintained the City’s social media; collaborated with staff on outreach strategy; and headed design, layout and content creation of the LCF Vista, the City’s quarterly newsletter
Over the years, the City has brought Tripepi Smith on for miscellaneous creative support, including redesigning its logo, launching its social media, creating its social media policy, producing public service announcement videos, live streaming public meetings, and most recently, redesigning its 10-year-old website.
“Our long-standing relationship with the City of La Cañada Flintridge gave us an advantage when it came to distilling its culture and community into the recruitment materials,” Ryder continued. “It was really their essence, and our just translating it into eye-catching, strategically placed communications, that brought the right candidates to the team.”
