The City of American Canyon welcomed Juan Gomez as their new Finance Director on January 9, 2023.
Juan comes to the City from West County Wastewater where he served as Finance Manager. Juan also brings prior experience working for the City of Fairfield, the City of Pleasanton, and the Contra Costa Water District. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University East Bay and brings over 15 years of government experience to the City, with demonstrated knowledge in finance, general accounting, accounts payable, budgeting, financial reporting and financial analysis.
As the City’s Finance Director, Juan will serve as a member of the City’s management team where he will lead all activities and operations of the Finance department, including managing goals and policies, employee development, budget development and more.
“It’s an honor to be selected as Finance Director,” stated Juan. “I recognize the immense responsibility and privilege of serving as a steward of the City’s finances. I look forward to partnering with existing staff to provide our very best to the residents of American Canyon.”
The City of American Canyon enlisted TS Talent Solutions (TSTS) to build out a candidate profile, design a captivating recruitment brochure and conduct outreach to prospective candidates. TSTS Recruiter Bob Hall and Business Analyst Kylie Sun steered this outreach plan, which ultimately led to the selection of Juan Gomez. Given the difficulty of recruiting for finance position, TSTS further cast the net for talent with Kylie staffing an American Canyon booth at the Municipal Management Association of Northern California Annual Conference and leveraging the recruiting video the City had hired Tripepi Smith to produce.
