The City of Fairfield selected Brian Gruner as their new Parks & Recreation Superintendent.

Brian Gruner comes to Fairfield from Laguna Woods Village, where he served as the Recreation and Special Events Director, accountable for a $10 million-dollar operating budget. In addition to his experience at Laguna Woods Village, he worked as a Community Services Supervisor for the City of Mission Viejo.

Brian holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a BA in Business Administration from Cal State University, Fullerton.

As Parks & Recreation Superintendent, Brian will plan, develop, organize and direct the operations of the recreational programs, services and facilities for the City. He will also coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies to foster a strong departmental culture.

“I am thrilled to be selected as Fairfield’s Parks & Recreation Superintendent,” said Brian. “It is an honor to step foot into such a great city, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with City staff in making sure Fairfield remains the best place to live, work and play.”

The City of Fairfield engaged TS Talent Solutions (TSTS) to field a generous amount of qualified candidates. In its recruitment efforts, TSTS drafted and designed a digital recruitment brochure using the City of Fairfield’s recreational photos, posted the position to job boards using language to draw potential candidates in, and directly reached out to prospective candidates across the State of California. TSTS also managed and facilitated the interview process, ultimately leading to the selection of Brian Gruner.

The Parks and Recreation Department provides a variety of comprehensive and diverse programs, activities and services, which encompass youth through senior citizens. The department strives to make the City a connected community by inviting residents to participate in programs and services that foster active and healthy lifestyles, support positive social interaction and enhance the community’s quality of life.

“Having a true passion for community engagement is crucial to thriving as a Parks & Recreation Superintendent,” said City Manager David Gassaway. “We have no doubt Brian will enact positive change and cultivate meaningful relationships here in Fairfield, and we look forward to seeing him lead the Parks & Recreation department. TS Talent Solutions was a great partner to the City in finding this critical role and our staff really appreciated their efforts to deliver for Fairfield.”
