The City of Morro Bay selected Ted Schiafone to serve as their next Harbor Director, effective February 13, 2023.
Ted Schiafone comes to Morro Bay from the City of Oceanside where he served as Division Manager, accountable for a $9 million budget. Ted brings over 30 years of related harbor and business experience. He holds an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Rollins College, a BA from Upsala College and a number of certificates and licenses.
“I am excited to bring Ted Schiafone onboard at this pivotal time,” said City Manager Collins. “The Harbor is central to the City’s success and is facing some big challenges. We need someone with strong business and leadership experience to build a long-term financially viable waterfront and begin to address the growing Harbor infrastructure needs. Ted is the right person for the job, and I look forward to him leading the Harbor Department and joining the City’s executive team.”
Morro Bay’s Harbor Department is a service-oriented organization that provides boater assistance, emergency response, code enforcement, and facilities maintenance for the waterfront and the waters of Morro Bay. Ted will oversee the department of seven full-time employees and several part-time employees as they provide community education, public outreach, and community relations for boaters, beach users, and waterfront visitors.
