Redwood Coast Energy Authority (RCEA) tapped TS Talent Solutions (TSTS) to assist in the search for its next Executive Director. After successful outreach and recruitment efforts, the RCEA Board of Directors is welcoming Beth Burks to the team, effective January 2025.
As the Executive Director of Humboldt County Association of Governments (HCAOG) since 2021, Beth is no stranger to the duties and responsibilities that come with leading an organization. A Humboldt State University Alumni, Beth uses her Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Planning to support her current and past roles as a Senior Planner, Regional Manager, Planning Principal and Project Manager for LACO Associates prior to her HCAOG term. Her work on regional-scale projects has helped her build an extensive network and deep community engagement expertise, resources that RCEA looks forward to leveraging for enhanced community impact.
“Finding a leader with both the experience to guide our organization and an arsenal of innovative ideas was no small feat,” said Eileen Verbeck, RCEA Interim Executive Director. “Christine and her team took the time to understand our unique needs and brought forward an impressive group of candidates for the Board to choose from. Beth’s passion and expertise will be a tremendous asset to our organization, and we’re confident she will thrive in her new role.”
Executive Recruiter Christine Martin led the recruitment with support from Recruitment Coordinator Kylie Sun. To spread the word far and wide, the recruitment team developed and distributed a digital recruitment brochure highlighting the key aspects of the position, the work culture of RCEA and important initiatives the new Executive Director would have the opportunity to be a part of. The brochure was published to multiple relevant job boards and sent directly to prospective candidates across the state. To expand the reach further, TSTS also leveraged their social media platforms, encouraging their team of 70+ to share the opportunity within their own networks.
“Supporting the search for an Executive Director was a tremendous opportunity to connect with exceptional leaders in the energy sector who are passionate about making a meaningful impact,” said Christine. “Our goal was to identify a candidate who not only brought the right skills and experience but also shared the values and culture of the organization. Beth embodies their ideal Executive Director and I know she will be a great addition to their team.”
As part of the process, the TSTS team collected all applications, conducted initial screening interviews with candidates and presented a detailed candidate materials packet to the RCEA Board for consideration. After two rounds of interviews with a strong candidate pool, the Board was excited to extend an employment offer to Beth.
“I am so excited to start this next chapter as Executive Director and grateful for the trust placed in me by the Board and the search team.” said Beth Burks. “Working with Christine has been a pleasure, and I’m excited to see her expertise put to work finding the right person to succeed me at the Humboldt County Association of Governments!”
