When the City of Palos Verdes Estates (PVE) began its search for its next Police Captain, they enlisted TS Talent Solutions (TSTS) to cast the net for talent far and wide. Following successful outreach and recruiting efforts, the City of PVE welcomed Rebecca Gomez to their team.
“It was crucial for us to find a Police Captain who not only had a strong law enforcement background but who could also connect with the close-knit, community-focused culture of Palos Verdes Estates. Rebecca exceeded those expectations,” said Chief of Police, Luke Hellinga. “We were very impressed by the professionalism and dedication Christine Martin and the TSTS team brought to the recruitment process. Their hard work resulted in an exceptional candidate pool, and we couldn’t be more pleased.”
Executive Recruiter Christine Martin led the recruitment with support from Recruitment Coordinator Kylie Sun and Assistant Recruitment Coordinator Hannah Wedepohl. TSTS’ recruitment strategy included the creation of a visually compelling digital recruitment brochure, which provides a glimpse into the culture of the PVE Police Department, details the ideal candidate for the position and speaks to the appeal of living and working in the beautiful coastal city of PVE. The brochure was not only posted to multiple local government and police job boards, but was also sent directly to prospective candidates across the state. To expand the reach, TSTS also leveraged their social media platforms, encouraging their team of 70+ to share the opportunity within their own networks.
“Working with the City of Palos Verdes Estates on this recruitment was a rewarding experience,” said Christine. “Our goal was to not only find a highly qualified leader but also someone who would resonate with the community and its values. Rebecca embodies both, and I’m confident she will serve the City of PVE with distinction.”
Throughout the three week open recruitment, the TSTS team collected all applications, vetted candidates and produced an easy-to-review candidate materials packet with recommendations of which candidates should proceed to interviews. The City of PVE was delighted with the quality of candidates, leading to the appointment of Rebecca as their new Police Captain.
“I am so glad to be here as the newest Police Captain at the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department,” said Rebecca. “TS Talent Solutions’ dedication to connecting talented individuals with meaningful careers is evident, and their extensive recruiting efforts truly make a difference in shaping strong teams across industries. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them.”
