The City of Carpinteria City Council adopted four strategic goals for the fiscal years 2025-2027 following a successful strategic planning process facilitated by Tripepi Smith Talent Solutions (TSTS). Director Christine Martin led the charge with support from Senior Business Analyst Kylie Sun

In January 2024, the City of Carpinteria partnered with TSTS to facilitate its first strategic planning process, which culminated in the adoption of five goals for fiscal year 2024-25. With that fiscal year drawing to a close, the City began preparing for its next strategic planning cycle, this time with a forward-looking approach that will guide priorities over the next two years.

“Fostering Carpinteria’s identity and future is a key part of our ongoing commitment to providing the highest quality of life for our residents,” said City Manager Michael Ramirez. “Expanding upon the goals set for fiscal year 2024-25, we are now looking even further ahead to forge a clear pathway to advancing our City’s programs and policies. Our continued partnership with TSTS has brought valuable structure, insight and momentum to our planning efforts, setting the stage for meaningful progress.”

As part of this year’s strategic planning process, the Carpinteria City Council sought feedback from the community to help inform the goals. Team TSTS led a robust outreach and engagement campaign to gather feedback, offering bilingual community workshops and feedback forms in both English and Spanish. In addition to community outreach, TSTS collected valuable insights from the City Council through a questionnaire and individual interviews. Drawing from all feedback, TSTS identified key focus areas and draft goals for consideration, which were presented to the City Council at a special meeting on January 18, 2025.

Upon discussion and revision of these proposed goals, City Council finalized four goals for fiscal years 2025-27. The goals include:

  • Enhance Public Outreach, Education and Transparency
  • Maintain a Small Beachside Town
  • Enhance Quality of Life for Residents
  • Maintain the Fiscal Sustainability of the City

“We’re proud to continue our partnership with the City of Carpinteria as we work together to fine-tune the City’s continuing goals with longer-term achievements in mind,” said Director Christine Martin. “In our second round of this process, City leadership has continued to demonstrate thoughtful investment in Carpinteria’s future. With Carpinteria’s unique small beachside town identity, we’re excited to help not only tell, but create the City’s story through its strategic plan.”
