The City of La Cañada Flintridge (LCF) engaged Tripepi Smith Talent Solutions (TSTS) to facilitate a comprehensive strategic planning process. Guided by City Council vision and enriched by community input, this process culminated in the adoption of six strategic goals that will direct the City’s operations and priorities for fiscal years 2025-2027.
“La Cañada Flintridge thrives because of the dedication to this community by its residents, City Council and staff,” said City Manager Dan Jordan. “This strategic plan reflects the values and priorities of our community while setting a thoughtful course for the years ahead. With TSTS’s guidance, we now have a roadmap that will help us strengthen what makes LCF unique and ensure we continue delivering exceptional service to our residents.”
Community engagement was central to the City Council’s vision for the process. In partnership with the City, TSTS invited residents to share their perspectives through an online questionnaire, an in-person community workshop and a virtual workshop. All feedback was carefully consolidated and shared with the City Council in advance of its strategic planning workshop, ensuring community voices informed the discussion from the outset.
Following the community input phase, TSTS conducted one-on-one interviews with each City Council member to gain deeper insights into the City’s challenges and opportunities. Using this input, TSTS identified key themes and proposed strategic goals, which were discussed in detail during City Council special meetings on March 24 and April 12, 2025. After robust discussion and deliberation, the City Council affirmed the following six strategic goals to guide the City’s work:
- Deliver Effective Public Safety Services Addressing Crime, Traffic, and Natural Disaster Risks
- Continue Responsible Fiscal Management
- Deliver Excellent City Operations
- Strengthen Community Engagement and Partnerships with Local Institutions
- Improve Environmental Health, Parks, Recreation Facilities, and Open Space
- Drive Economic Development and Support Local Businesses
TSTS then worked with City executive staff to develop tactical steps for achieving each goal. This work culminated in a comprehensive strategic plan and work plan, which were formally adopted by the City Council on August 19, 2025.
“Our team is proud to have supported the City of La Cañada Flintridge in this important planning effort,” said Tripepi Smith Principal Ryder Todd Smith. “Thanks to input from both the community and city staff and excellent discourse by the City Council, the plan reflects a unified vision and actionable next steps. We look forward to seeing LCF achieve these goals in the years ahead.”
